Accommodation Options with Running The Highlands

We have carefully selected a variety of accommodation to offer comfort, great locations and excellent value at prices to suit all budgets. All of them offer quick and easy access to the Cairngorms National Park

Balmoral Estate - we have a special, privileged relationship with the Estate (the Queen's Summer Residence) and are delighted to be able to offer - from November to March - excellent accommodation for groups on a single room basis (plus one twin/double bedded apartment). This makes an ideal base for running clubs, schools, universities and other organisations.

Glendavan House - Set in the heart of Royal Deeside, Glendavan House was built as a shooting lodge in 1886. The house stands in its own extensive grounds - seven acres of natural pine woodland overlooking Loch Davan - within the newly created Cairngorms National Park. Now offering 5 star accommodation (5* B&B), it is furnished to the highest standards. Each suite and room combines bespoke and antique furniture, Victorian features and luxurious fabrics with state of the art, modern facilities. Accommodation at Glendavan has been tailored to offer every guest a little bit of luxury in a relaxed and informal manner. We would strongly recommend Glendavan for couples/families who are looking for a very special place to stay.

Glen Lui Hotel - The Glen Lui Hotel is set in two acres of woodland grounds in the heart of Ballater with woderful views across the golf course to majestic Lochnagar. The hotel, which is owned and run by Gordon and Susan Bell, assisted by their son Murray, offers friendly Scottish hospitality and wonderful cuisine. All 19 bedrooms have en-suite facilities, are very comfortable and well equipped.

Alexandra Hotel - The Alexandra Hotel in Ballater is owned and run by Alan and Fiona McCorquodale. They offer friendly service, comfortable accommodation and excellent meals. All rooms are en-suite with direct dial telephones, tea and coffee making facilities, satellite television and other essentials that go to make up everything you would expect of a quality family run hotel.

Tangley House -  Tangley is a warm and friendly Victorian house set in lovely gardens overlooking Craigendarroch Hill. It is in easy walking distance of Ballater village centre. This excellent 4 star guest house has en-suite double and twin rooms (single occupancy available) and Tom and Shirley Oliver are the most welcoming of hosts. Tangley Cottage is situated in the grounds of Tangley House and provides well decorated, clean and comfortable self-catering accommodation.

The School House in Ballater is a boutique hostel offering quality, clean accommodation with style. It has two dormitories with hand crafted bunk beds and with fantastic en-suite showers. There is also a double room with private shower room and W.C. The School House boasts a common room with enormous sofas and log fire. Packed lunch and evening meals available till late! Free tea and coffee all day. Enjoy the spacious garden for relaxation and organic produce that features in delicious home cooked meals. Barbeque and outdoor eating facilities are available.
