What's on in RTH in 2008 Hi there from all at Running The Highlands. Just a quick update to let you know about what's been going on and what is yet to come....! Gerard Hartmann, Ger Keane - Physical Therapists to such names as Paula Radcliffe and Kelly Holmes, Sonia O'Sullivan and Lance Armstrong have left us with enough energy and inspiration to last a lifetime! Our weekend at Balmoral (23-25 Nov) was a wonderful combination of the contributions from Gerard and Ger (including sessions on 'Prehabilitation', the flexibilty and core stability exercises used by their elite clients and Gerard's 'Blueprint For Success') fabulous trail runs through the Balmoral Estate, delicious food prepared by the Balmoral catering staff (and approved by Dr Chris Fenn our nutritionist) and superb 1-1 coaching advice from Mel Edwards, our inspiring Level 4 Endurance Coach. Added to that were excellent talks from Chris and Mel and from the Head Ranger at Balmoral and the opportunity to enjoy a sports massage. The weather was great and the red deer and red squirrels were on hand to finish off the experience. As one guest said - 'how are you going to top this?!' Well.....?! Coming up..... Our Hogmanay and Detox 10k 5 night break is fully booked and we have already had enquiries about next year's!! So if you would like to enjoy a Highland New Year celebration - get in early! At Balmoral in 2008 we are offering a Body and Sole Weekend 29 Feb-2 Mar for those relatively new to running who would like to combine trail running with other activities (Yoga, Pilates etc) and de-stress in the beautiful Balmoral surroundings. Then our Mad March Marathon Weekend 7-9 Mar will see special guest John Bryant, London Marathon Trustee, journalist and former Editor of The Daily Telegraph and elite runner. Places at these weekends are already going fast, so do book early if you wish to guarantee a place! The Pre-winter Training Weekend 14-16 Nov will set you up for winter running. Special guest to be announced - keep an eye on the website for more details. Our Douneside Estate weekends 11-13 April and 17-19 October will have special guests Fraser Clyne, former GB marathon athlete and Bruce Tulloh, top international endurance coach. The facilities at Douneside lend themselves to family or non-running partners so if you fancy a break where the whole family can enjoy the Highland atmosphere, book up and secure your place. We will also be offering the chance to combine a RTH break with a race event in this area including the Balmoral 10k 25-27 April and Ballater 10 mile 25-27 July. And of course, you can come at any time of year, for as long as you like on our tailored holidays. Just get in touch! Clubs, groups will be given special discounted prices, so do let us know if you are coming as a larger group. In the meantime we wish you a very Merry Christmas when it comes, a Happy and healthy New Year and lots of wonderful running experiences in 2008. Happy running! All of us in the RTH team
