First and foremost - we are all people who enjoy running. None of us takes ourselves too seriously - we run because we love it. We have all run in this area for many years and passionately believe that the running trails in this part of Scotland are amongst the best in the world. Neil Stewart - RTH Coordinator and Guide
Formerly an HR Director, Neil has run several marathons and long distance routes such as the Great Glen Way. He is also the organiser of Scotland's first 10k of the year - the John R. Weir Lumphanan Detox 10k. Neil, a UK Athletics qualified coach, loves to share his enjoyment of the Scottish highlands with people from all parts of the UK and the rest of the world.
Phil Benzie - Guide
Phil is an extremely experienced runner, Chairman of the Deeside Runners and organiser of the Ballater 10 mile and Lairig Ghru ultra endurance hill races. He has an extensive knowledge of the history, flora and fauna of the area and is sure to have a story or two to tell before, during and after runs.
Ruth MacKenzie - Guide
Ruth, a fitness instructor, is a well known local running personality with an outstanding record of achievement as evidenced by her coming fourth woman home in the challenging Highland Cross 2006 20 mile run and 30 mile cycle in 4hours 18mins! She also finished 1st woman over 40 in the 2006 Ben Nevis Hill Race and is still smiling! Ruth is an inspiring guide and has her own definition of 'just a bit further'!
Mel Edwards - Advisory Consultant
Top marathon coach Mel has been involved in distance running for 45 years. A fomer international marathon, cross country and hill running athlete he has tutored UK Athletics coaches. We are incredibly fortunate to have Mel as an advisor to Running The Highlands. He provides personal guidance to participants on our special training weekends and contributes a monthly training article on the website.
Pat Donald - Sports Masseuse and Guide
Pat is a qualified massage therapist and reflexologist. Her knowledge of and enthusiasm for running combine extremely well with her professional training. Her warm, supportive personality plus her indepth local knowledge make her an ideal running partner and guide.
Catriona Macfarlane - Sports Masseuse and Nutrition Advsior
Not being content with being qualified in Swedish, Remedial and Sports Massage, Catriona also has an M.Sc in Human Nutrition. Catriona, a keen runner, is very well respected for her amazing ability to assess injury and flexibility issues and then set about solving the problems. She is also able to advise on injury prevention and nutrition.
Emma Stewart - Fitness/flexibility Instructor
Emma Stewart is a Pilates Instructor (member of the Pilates Institute) and former Royal Academy of Dance scholar. She likes to combine the elements of ballet fitness and core stability with her love of running. With an infectious personality and broad smile - Emma's strongest talent is her ability to get the best out of people - in a pleasant way!. She enjoys running 10k's in particular.
