Douneside Spring training Weekend |
What fantastic Spring sunshine! Guests at our Douneside 'Spring into Spring' Training Weekend enjoyed temperatures in the 20C's and beautiful Deeside countryside as they made the most of their weekend with us. Guided runs on varying trails - some hilly and some lochside - were enjoyed on each of the 3 days in groups according to running ability, each with their own guide. Also during the weekend, there were talks from Mel Edwards (our Level 4 Marathon Coach), Dr John Leiper (expert on hydration and sports drinks) and Catriona Macfarlane (Sports and Remedial Massage Therapist - on the obvious benefits of massage for runners). Special guest Don Macgregor entertained with stories of Olympian marathon experiences as well as some interesting insights into the history of distance running and the future of distance running in this country. A taster session on Pilates with Emma and advice on running footwear and gait analysis from Asics technical rep Nick Taylor rounded off the weekend. The combination of running, relaxing in the sunshine or the leisure centre (or pool table where competition was hot!) and expert advice seems to have gone down well with everyone. Here are some of the comments: 'I've tried to think of something I didn't like and failed!' Tess from London 'Thank you for a really lovely and very enjoyable weekend...I would love to come again not only for the running but for the ability to utilise all other facilities' Natalie from Glasgow
