Ruth MacKenzie - Guide
Ruth, a fitness instructor, is a well known local running personality with an outstanding record of achievement in both hill and road races. An inspiring, enthusiatic guide, Ruth has her own definition of 'just a bit further' and she brings out the best in your running! One of her 2010 highlights was winning her age category for the Ben Nevis Hill Race in a personal best time for the event .. and coming 7th overall. |

Ben Preece - Guide
We are delighted that Ben, one of Scotland's top veteran endurance runners for the past 20 years started guiding for us during 2010 - a 2 times Lairig Ghru winner and 2:33 marathoner. Incredibly knowledgeable (about just about everything!), reassuring and a great person to run with, Ben has been a major addition to our team. He has guided many of our tailored holiday guests and he has also done our three Runs Across Scotland in 2010 (April, May and October).

Jon Musgrave - Guide
Jon is a great runner, orienteer and coach – can there be a better combination for a guide?
A member of the GB orienteering squad from 1981 to 2001, he was British orienteering champion in 1981, 1995, 2004 and 2006. He won Gold at the World Masters in 1997 and Silver at the World Championships Relay in 1993. He has been coach to the GB orienteering squad since 1998. Twice winner of the Highland Cross (1988 & 1989), former winner of the Braemar Hill Race and record holder of the Great Wilderness Challenge, Jon loves Deeside and running in general!

Emma Stewart - Fitness/flexibility Instructor
Emma is a Pilates Instructor (member of the Pilates Institute) and former Royal Academy of Dance scholar and Ballet teacher.
She likes to combine the elements of ballet fitness and core stability with her love of running. With an infectious personality and broad smile - Emma's strongest talent is her ability to get the best out of people - in a pleasant way! She enjoys running as a positive way to keep fit (and enjoy the company of other runners!)

Davie Armour - Guide
Davie is a UK Athletics Level 3 coach, and also a JogScotland Leader. He has been running for over 25 years and coaching for over 10 years. He is currently running between 70 - 80 miles per week and still racing regularly throughout Scotland with great results. His enthusiam is infectious!

Ingrid Machell - Sports Massage Therapist and Guide
Ingrid has been running for nearly 10 years, has completed 7 marathons, "a couple of duathalons and lots of half's and 10k's"! She is qualified in Swedish, Sports and Remedial massage as well as joining us as a guide on our first Run Across Scotland in Oct 2009 and again in Oct 2010. She and husband Andy play saxophone and guitar with popular band Big Mountain, so she can also keep us entertained! Her easy going nature and love of running make her a perfect addition to the RTH team!

Claire Macaskill - Guide
Claire first's contact with Running The Highlands was as a guest when she was training for a marathon. She was so taken with the trails on which we run that she asked us if she could do some guiding and we were delighted to oblige as Claire has all the attributes we look for in our guides - friendly, sociable, knowledgeable about running and self reliant (as well as being a good runner!). She has developed into a highly competitive runner; having taken almost an hour off her marathon PB in a year. She guides for us on some of our training weekends and guided on our April 2010 Run Across Scotland. Claire is also employed in the Head Office of Run 4 It (Scotland's largest running retailer).

Catriona McIntosh - Sports Massage Therapist and Nutrition Advsior
Not being content with being qualified in Swedish, Remedial and Sports Massage, Catriona also has an M.Sc in Human Nutrition. Catriona, a keen runner, is very well respected for her amazing ability to assess injury and flexibility issues and then set about solving the problems. She is also able to advise on injury prevention and nutrition.

Pat is a qualified massage therapist and reflexologist. Her knowledge of and enthusiasm for running combine extremely well with her professional training. Her warm, supportive personality plus her indepth local knowledge make her an ideal running partner and guide.

Gail Nixon - Guide
Gail’s easy going, cheery and chatty nature make her a really excellent guide to run with. A relative newcomer to running – really only having got into it in the last 3 years, she has made up for lost time by trying all kinds of routes in the hills. Gail’s knowledge of the area and her enthusiasm will no doubt help to make sure that any run with her will be very enjoyable and informative.
